Vocal Program

The highly successful Vocal Program brings together students from throughout the U.S. and Canada. In 2016 participants were featured in concerts of Baroque Music, Music of Shakespeare's Time, Opera Arias, Chamber Music and the Festival Chorus. The programs' daily schedule includes private voice lessons, coachings, performance rehearsals, master classes, repertoire classes, yoga and themed classes.

An eleven day intensive vocal program in beautiful Quebec, Canada from July 27 to August 6. A program for 15 to 20 professionally focused singers which includes:

  • Festival Chorus
  • Chamber Ensembles

Classes and Descriptions

Individual Voice Lessons. Professionally focused
Individual instruction will be tailored to each students level of proficiency and will include work on technique, interpretation and music fundamentals. These lessons will assist each student in realizing his/her vocal potential through instruction in healthy vocal technique. They will also encompass work in developing dynamics, phrasing, breath control, and musicianship skills.
Vocal coachings include work on fundamentals of good musicianship such as pitch, rhythm, phrasing, legato line. Also important, diction and text communication. Discussion of musical styles, operatic role preparation, classic Broadway, and healthy vocal technique.
Vocal Repertoire Class
Performance-based class in opera and classical music. Students will develop communication and enhanced performance skills in a masterclass setting.
Festival Chorus
Open to all festival participants and community members. Rehearsals will be held Monday through Friday of Festival Week, and a dress rehearsal with instruments. The Festival Choral Concert will be held on Saturday evening August 6.
Chamber Ensembles
Student prepares pieces in mixed ensemble with voice, violin, guitar, to be performed in student concert at end of week. Coaching by one of the faculty members.

How to Apply

The deadline to apply is May 1, 2017.

To apply for the Vocal Program, please complete this online application before submitting any tuition fee(s).

Applicants must follow the procedure outlined below. Please note that you must submit a successful recorded audition to be accepted to the Vocal program.

Recorded audition: For applicants to the Voice and Opera Program. Please submit an electronic recording of 3 songs or arias no longer than 12 minutes in length to tgoodheart@binghamton.edu. The following song/aria requirements should be in contrasting styles:

  • One Italian or German art song or aria
  • One French art song or aria
  • One song in English (not a translation)

Recordings can also be YouTube videos.

All fees are in Canadian Dollars.

Tuition: $900.00 (CAD) with lodging, $600.00 (CAD) without lodging.
A non-refundable deposit of $300.00 (CAD) is due by May 15, 2017. Balance is due June 15.
